Happy Anniversary to ME!

Can I just tell you how exciting this week has been at Seven Stars Vacations? Not only have we expanded our team to better serve our clients (more on that next week), but over the weekend we celebrated our O-N-E year company anniversary! It may not seem like much, but I have to say that I am super proud of the awesomeness this business is up to! This anniversary is one big milestone, but it represents so many small ones. I wake up before the sun everyday with a huge smile on my face because I get to design memories for people like you. I can’t think of anything I’d rather celebrate!

On that note of anniversaries, my hubby and I have been throwing around ideas for an anniversary trip of our own this summer. Can I tell you a secret? We never exchange anniversary gifts! We both know we want the same thing: an experience. Don’t get me wrong…jewelry is nice! But we know that the best gifts can’t be packaged at all. We are thinking that we will take a four-day weekend and have a little fun in NYC. Yes, it will be the dead heat of summer {ick} but we will overcome! I am so excited to share with you a little bit of what we have planned!

1. Live like locals. This is the best part of travel to me—particularly urban travel. I love wandering neighborhood streets, popping in at a flower shop, watching street performers at a park, and generally acting like I own the joint everywhere I go. We plan to make the West Village (or thereabouts) our base. Can’t wait to fill you in on the details!

2 Eat. Obviously. I’m going to share with you my secret weapon when it comes to all things foodie in the Big Apple. It isn’t the cool kids at the cafeteria table that you may be expecting. Nope, it’s my main man, Ziggy. This guy’s been eating his way through NYC (and some other random spots) for awhile now. I always check his blog when I’m setting up my clients’ restaurant reservations, and I haven’t had a complaint yet! So, finish reading this post, then head over to Eating With Ziggy and show him a little love, ok?

3. Make concessions. Or eat at them. Yep, I’m going to Citi Field so my main squeeze can watch his Mets do whatever it is that baseball players do. In July. While I sweat beer. But concessions go both ways……….

4. Chelsea Market!!!! This is really all I want in life. Lots and lots and lots and lots of food to sample from some of the most creative chefs in the country. In the shade. With shopping nearby. #sorrybabe #notsorry

5. Sunday brunch. Because why wouldn’t you???? Yes, I’m also seeing an emerging food theme.

6. Be un-tourists. Yes, we will see some stuff that we haven’t seen before! We haven’t visited the 9-11 Memorial, and that is something the dude is really wanting to do. I will also want to check out a few hotels and some of the NYC tour guides because, ya know, it’s my job. Plus we gotta walk off all that food!

7. Keep an open seat at the table. Want to know the secret to the best of vacations? Leave a little space in your day for the unexpected visitor. The dessert course at the little Italian place. The celebrity sighting at a dog park. The quintessential New York moment that is waiting to happen to you. It may sound like the confession of a reformed travel planner, but knowing when to say when is one of the best gifts planning your vacations has given me this year!

Happy Anniversary!! Thanks for sharing in my joy and letting me share in yours!

Ciao Chow!
